Since 1982, Buzzard Hollow Ranch (BHR) has been dedicated to the production of fullblood Fleckvieh based Simmental Cattle. Our major emphasis was to produce a product that would not only meet the needs of the Seedstock Industry, but more importantly, the Commercial Industry.

Our criteria for selection includes:

Body Capacity Fertility and Milking Ability
Natural Muscling Ease of Calving
Performance Short hair coat
Strong feet and legs Longevity
Eye appeal Carcass quality

We have also selected for the convenience traits, such as sound udders and teats and low maintenance cattle based upon a forage production under these climate conditions:

    Average Rainfall: 30"
    Average Temperature: 20°F - 115°F
    Growing Season: 9 Months


In order to achieve these goals, we selected genetics from South Africa, Germany, Austria and North America to create the BHR Blend.
A key to our success is the adaptability of our genetics to different conditions both at home and around the world.

Our future depends upon the acceptance of BHR Genetics not only by the Seedstock Producers worldwide, but also the Commercial Cattlemen, Feedlots and the Consuming Public in North America. Acceptance by the Seedstock Industry is based upon phenotypic and genotypic type packed by proven performance. Maternal strengths of easy calving, fertility and milk are the characteristics commercial cattlemen desire with enough performance to increase pounds of calves sold at weaning. High growth, efficient feed conversions, uniformity and health are demanded by the feedlots. High dressing with increased retail cuts and marbling drive the packer acceptance. The consumer will drive all of the above demanding a fresh, tender, juicy, flavorful product, low in fat to satisy their desire for protein while maintaing a healthy body.
